Disability – Reflection on #DisabilityTooWhite article/interview with Vilissa Thompson

When it comes to inclusion of disabled voices, there is a great lack of representation of disable people of colour.

Disable person of colour (especially women) are very under-represented.

In my own teaching, I could include more disabled voices. Particularly when I show examples in my class, I cold show more representation of disable people of colour in my examples in class. When showing white disable people in class, I could also address the problem about the lack of representation of disable people of colour.

If I have disable students (which I do), I would try to hear more about what they think and feel. I would try to encourage students to conduct research on these issues as well.

Conversations matter. In higher education, we definitely need more discourse of able-bodied privilege.
